Payment made easy

Simple and user-friendly solutions will ensure that the transport industry find it easy to pay and manage the road toll.

There are two ways to pay:

Through a provider

Use the same satellite-based GNSS equipment as elsewhere in Europe or possibly an app.

Digital KmToll ticket

Buy a digital KmToll ticket if you do not have and on-board unit or it does not work.

The same price for the same trip

Vi vil gerne gøre det så nemt som muligt for dig at betale.

Den kørte rute og antal kørte kilometer beregnes centralt baseret på registreret kørsel fra satellitbokse, så du altid er sikret samme pris for samme tur.

Known solutions customised for the Danish market

To make it easy for you to pay, focus is on:

  • coherence with existing toll schemes in Europe, so GNSS equipment can be used across European road toll schemes.
  • proven solutions in operation with European toll chargers.

Sund & Bælt have taken into account the experiences from toll schemes in several European countries such as Germany and Belgium and included what suits the Danish market best.

Overview of the toll you will pay to drive a truck as per 1 January 2025

The toll is calculated based on a new clarification of trucks called CO2 emission classes. The Danish Motor Vehicle Agency (Motorstyrelsen) and the Danish Road Traffic Authority (Færdselsstyrelsen) are working on a model for and placement of all Danish trucks in CO2 emission classes, which will be part of the Danish Motor Register (DMR). This is unrelated to the current Euronorm.

Where can I see the CO2 emission class and the gross weight of my truck?

If your truck is registered in Denmark, you will be able to look up the CO2 emission class of your truck in the Danish Vehicle Register (DMR) during the year 2024. You can also look up the gross vehicle weight in the DMR.

If your truck is registered abroad, you must provide information about its CO2 emission class and gross weight.

What determines the CO2 emission class of my truck, and how is it determined?

It is an EU requirement that trucks are assigned to one of five CO2 emission classes, and this is set out in an EU directive from 2022.

The CO2 emission class of your truck is determined based on criteria in said EU directive.

How much is the toll?

You pay different toll depending on whether you drive inside or outside the Danish environmental zones in Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg.

Within the environmental zones

It will be 50 percent more expensive to drive in the environmental zones compared to the rest of the road network. The higher rates in the environmental zones reflect that many citizens within these areas are more exposed to air pollution and noise from the truck traffic and traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles.
